Interesting perspective on mobile payments

An interesting perspective on mobile payments in a report from the Centre for Economics and Business Research – "The Future of Payment in the UK"; aside from some eye watering predictions (over 20m people to use mobile payments by 2010; mobile payments to account for 1.4% of UK consumer spending by 2020) the report goes on to suggest that mobile payments could benefit the UK economy by tens or 100s of £millions by eradicating some forms of card fraud and eliminating costly cash transactions. We are always seeking ways to improve the security of transactions for both the merchant and consumer with a view to reducing the cost of transactions… to the benefit of both parties. However, it's also nice to know we are helping the wider cause!"
