In the world of cricket, Rob Keogh is a name synonymous with resilience and adaptability. But recently, he’s taken on a new challenge beyond the cricket pitch – joining the electric vehicle (EV) revolution with the support of Paythru.
Rob’s cricket journey with Northamptonshire began in 2010, marked not only by his batting prowess but also by his emergence as an off-spinner. Over the years, he’s showcased his potential as a valuable all-rounder, with standout performances like his maiden List A century and impressive bowling figures that solidified his status in the cricketing world.
However, it was off the field where Rob found himself embarking on a new adventure. At the Ruth Strauss Foundation dinner in November 2023, Rob struck up a conversation with Paythru’s Managing Director, Keith Brown. Bonding over their shared love for cricket, the two discussed Rob’s interest in the EV world and Paythru’s innovative business approach.
Inspired by Rob’s curiosity and desire to make a difference, Keith proposed a unique sponsorship agreement – Rob would drive an all-electric Mercedes EQC provided by Paythru in exchange for promoting the benefits of EVs. Initially hesitant, Rob saw this as an opportunity to not only explore a new technology but also to contribute to a more sustainable future.
Fast forward to February 14, 2024, when Rob received his all-electric Mercedes EQC from Paythru. From the moment he hit the road, Rob’s perception of EVs shifted drastically. Gone were his doubts as he experienced the convenience, comfort, and sheer enjoyment of driving an EV;
I was immediately impressed by the performance and responsiveness of the EV, coming from a petrol vehicle, the difference was night and day.
Paythru didn’t stop there – they ensured a seamless transition to EV ownership by installing a home charging point for Rob, overseen by their Chief Strategy Officer, Sara Sloman. This attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction left Rob not only impressed but also eager to share his experience with others.
In total, I’ve only spent £45 on charging since I got the car,” Rob reported. “And I plan to save about ten thousand petrol miles this year!
Now, Rob’s monthly blog about his EV journey has become a source of inspiration for those still on the fence about going electric. With his firsthand experience and genuine enthusiasm, Rob is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future, both on and off the cricket field.
As Rob Keogh continues to drive change with Paythru by his side, one thing is clear – the EV revolution is well underway, and together, we’re powering towards a brighter, cleaner tomorrow.
